Message Just an FYI. The MKII (5M), MKIII (7M and 1JZ) are free running motors. You can turn the cam with the engine in any position and not hit a valve. The Z is an interference motor. I believe that at TDC, the left side cams are ok to turn as the pistons are down away from the top, on the right side, the #1 is TDC and that is where the problem is. However, even if it jumps on you, you can still turn it BACKWARDS to the correct position and not do damage. The cam is just seeking a position where no valves are open and the spring load is even.

I would also do a leakdown test at this point on all cylinders and make sure you don't have a hung/bent valve.
